Energy
Strong regen is a comfort question for the other seat
The hatchback's heaviest energy recovery slowed the car hard enough that a passenger braced for a brake we had not pressed.

We like the idea of getting energy back as the car slows. The strongest setting on the hatchback does that and also asks everyone in the car to share the driver's timing. Lift off, and the nose dips. A passenger who cannot see the reason thinks the brake was stabbed.
A middle setting for a shared car
With two people aboard we used the milder setting. The recovery was less. The conversation was better, which is not a joke. A car that makes its passengers brace is tiring in a way a spec sheet does not capture. The strongest setting stayed available for a driver alone who wants it.
We will say which setting we used when we quote a consumption figure, because the setting changes the figure and the ride. Comfort of the person not holding the wheel is part of the car.
