Cabins
A stale cabin is a filter, not a fragrance
The wagon smelled tired after a wet week. The cure was a filter we could see, not a scent we could buy.

Wet coats, a damp mat, and a week of recirculated air left the wagon smelling like itself in the worst way. The temptation is a fragrance. Fragrance covers a smell and adds a second one. The filter behind the glovebox was gray in a way a new one is not.
We changed the part we could name
A new filter, fitted at the desk, did more in one drive than an afternoon with the windows open. The open windows helped. They did not clean the path the air takes when the windows are shut, which is how the car is actually used in the wet.
We will not review scents. If a cabin smells wrong we will look for standing water, a mat that never dried, and the filter. Those are causes. A perfume is a different product.
