A crosswind belongs in the log, not in the steering feel
On the desk wagon, a gusty afternoon moved the car. We wrote down the gusts instead of blaming the wheel.

The wagon is tall enough that a side wind is not a rumor. On a gusty afternoon the desk drove the usual loop and the car stepped sideways twice, both times on the open stretch after the trees stop.
What we wrote down
We did not publish a verdict on the steering. We wrote the time, the direction of the road, and that the correction was small and immediate. A later calm pass on the same stretch did not repeat the step. The difference was the air, not a new fault in the rack.
A feeling in the hands is a reason to look. It is not the finding. When this desk mentions stability, the sentence will say whether the wind was part of the hour. Otherwise a breezy Tuesday becomes a permanent opinion of the car.
See a mistake? Write the desk. How a piece is tested, and what the desk will not sell, is set out in How we test and Editorial standards.
